The Beautiful Gardens of Savannah

The Beautiful Gardens of Savannah

Savannah, Georgia is the picture of Southern grace and charm. With a quaint historic district and lots to see and do any time of the year, it’s no wonder that this city is one of the South’s most treasured gems. When I first visited Savannah, one of the things that struck me the most was how incredibly green the place is. Stroll through the city and you’ll see some of the country’s most picturesque and pristine gardens, not to mention the ivy covered entrance ways and iconic Spanish moss trees. Savannah is special not only for its old South architecture, but also for its natural beauty. Continue reading “The Beautiful Gardens of Savannah” »

5 Travel Destination Alliterations

5 Travel Destination Alliterations

I’m no poet, but something about a relaxing vacation gets me feeling very creative. Whether it’s a sunset at the beach or a cafe in Paris, there’s always an inspiration waiting when you’re enjoying someplace new. If you feel your poetic juices flowing when you’re on vacation, you’ll be even more creative if you check out one of these destinations with alliterative names. Everyone loves a good alliteration, right?

Minneapolis, Minnesota is a favorite stop of mine, mostly because I love shopping at the Mall of America so much. Besides the shopping, Minneapolis has an amazing culinary scene, which a lot of people don’t realize. The Midwestern feel is still alive in Minneapolis despite its size, and it is an easy place to feel comfortable and at home in, even if you just stay for a couple of days. Sleeping with Dinos

Sleeping with Dinos

For some travelers, the allure of hotel rooms with their tightly made white beds and tiny little shampoo bottles has long faded into a blur of sameness. For those looking for something new in lodging, look no further than Denver, Colorado, where an exciting new hotel will be opening this summer.

Denver is home to many beautiful attractions. Besides the Rocky Mountains, Denver is also home to museums and zoos, gardens and shopping, and a rich history of archaeological finds. This last attraction is the one that hoteliers Greg and Meredith Tally are currently incorporating into the Best Western Denver Southwest hotel. The renovations to turn this traditional hotel into a dinosaur haven have been ongoing since December, and are scheduled to finish this summer. Continue reading “Sleeping with Dinos” »

Bizarre Hotel Story of the Week: Fecal Matter?

Bizarre Hotel Story of the Week: Fecal Matter?

We’ve heard a lot of odd and downright disturbing stories of hotel happenings over the years, but the newest tale circulating around the web is one of the spookiest (and saddest unfortunately). In fact, it’s the type of story you’d expect to see on Dateline NBC (and, depending on the outcome, it could eventually become an episode). So, no, we weren’t joking about the “fecal matter” bit, but before we dive into that, we’ll  give you the backstory.

A young, 21-year-old Canadian girl went missing at the end of last month during her stay at Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, a city on the borderline of Skid Row. While she was on her way to Santa Cruz, there’s not much explanation as to why she chose a questionable hotel in such a shady area, especially since she was by herself. She also had been in touch with her family, so it seems they would not have been comfortable with it either, but perhaps they were not at all familiar with the area and its reputation.

Traveling to Los Angeles

Traveling to Los Angeles

A huge sprawling metropolis in sunny southern California on the west coast of the United States, the idea of Los Angeles conjures up many different images for different people.  For some, it’s Hollywood and movie stars, for others the beach and long coastline and others think of traffic jams, violence and generic sprawl.  The beauty of Los Angeles is that there is a little something for everyone. The first Travel Monday article of the New Year will be featuring a city close to my heart, my birthplace and native land of Los Angeles, USA.

The second-most visited spot in all of California behind Disneyland, Venice Beach is a spot to visit for people watching, beach days or shopping for kitschy souvenirs.  Stop by Muscle Beach to see where actor-turned Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger got his start pumping iron.  Visit the myriad street performers offering a variety of different shows of skill and talent.  Or, just soak in the ambiance of this beach that has been made famous as a backdrop in hundreds of different movies and television shows.  It’s the ultimate LA spot- a little bit weird, a little bit wild, but all parts unique and fun. Picking Out Your Online Mortgage

Picking Out Your Online Mortgage

A basic mortgage represents a loan on a property that must be paid over a certain period of time. In a sense, it is a guarantee that the borrowed money to buy the home will be repaid. There are many different types of mortgages, including online mortgages, that carry advantages and disadvantages, depending on the buyer. It is critical to weigh out the pros and cons of each mortgage to see what best fits with your budget and lifestyle.

How are Online Mortgages Different?

Applying for online mortgages is very similar to applying for ordinary mortgages, but it isn’t as simple as all online things, like deciding on the online gift cards you want. You are still required to complete several documents and provide information like your income, tax relief, any other mortgages you may have, your assets and loan accounts, etc. Before the online mortgage company can approve your application for a mortgage, you must meet the specified criteria.
