Today Placerville, California is known for its wineries, whitewater rafting and luxurious bed and breakfasts. But Placerville has a rich history, being one of the most popular mining areas during the California Gold Rush that took place from 1848 – 1855. Placerville was officially established in 1854, and because of its history and many attractions, it is a top destination in the greater Sacramento area.
