With the California Gold Rush in the early 1900’s mining towns popped up all over Idaho. Most of the inhabitants of these towns quickly left to pursue the call of wealth. One of the few towns that survived the Gold Rush is Stanley. Visitors to the town will feel as if they have stepped into the past. The double-decker trains of the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner run 89 miles an hour along the scenic Southern California coast from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.
